Lake Ontario borders the western edge of Lake and River Roasters' hometown of Cape Vincent, NY. If you have never been out on the open water of Lake Ontario, you're missing one of nature's best hidden secrets. It may be the smallest of the Great Lakes but possesses some of the deepest views imaginable. The taste of this coffee's namesake is as natural as the days on the Lake. From dawn to dusk, still waters to whitecaps, there is never a shortage of natural beauty to bask in.
Our Lake Ontario coffee is created from organic, Fair Trade coffee beans from Café Orgánico Marcala S.A. (COMSA) in Marcala, La Paz, Honduras. COMSA was founded in December of 2001 with a vision of creating new and alternative development opportunities for small-scale coffee farmers. Today, COMSA is 1,200 members strong, with a waiting list of producers still hoping to join the organization. Their lead farmers continue to demonstrate effective, regenerative organic practices that are both improving productivity and protecting their plants from common diseases.
This low acidity coffee boasts tasting notes of honey, caramel, and dark chocolate.
